- The daughterboard version is a modem that was originally purchased as a
- Courier 14.4 or Dual Standard 14.4 or 16.8 etc. These were originally
- manufactured with a daughterboard and could be upgraded to the 28.8/33.6
- model by upgrading the daughterboard.

- No, until thie Caller-ID function came out - now there's a small problem
- with a change needed in the main board to get that one to work with
- caller-ID, the other functions work fine.

- Well, it's a rather old design, and needs some changes for Caller-ID.
- All the modems originally purchased as 28.8's are the newer single-board.
- You can't blame USR for not anticipating all future updates.

- You should know the history of it. If you bought it as a 28.8 you're
- all set. If you bought it as a 14.4/16.8 and upgraded it with a
- daughterboad, you're in need of a rather inexpensive update.
-
- You could install the new firmware and try it.
-
- You can also tell by listening for the 'relay click' but you should be
- able to tell without that.
-
- While the newer modem is obviously, in this case, better... I don't feel
- you can fault USR, and they are doing the needed changes at a very low
- price, and the instructions for doing it yourself (for maybe $2 in parts)
- have been posted, if you don't mind voiding the warranty on the older
- units.
